My Story

Ben was a happy, fun-loving rabbit who sometimes reminded us of a playful puppy.  He loved his adopted sisters, Pippin and Jess, and would often be seen lovingly grooming each one in turn. 

Ben also had a naughty streak and was known for getting up on his hind paws to 'box' his sisters away from the food so he could have a bigger share!  He was so fond of food that he even chased the cats away from their cat food, before discovering that the meaty taste was not to his liking.  We often thought that he aspired to be a cat himself, as he was seen many times attempting to pounce on birds, insects and even frogs.  Several times he escaped from the garden, despite our best attempts to rabbit-proof the perimeter, and often surprised the neighbours with an unexpected visit.

Ben loved his Daddy to come back from a walk with great handfuls of dandelions, which would be consumed with relish, starting at the stalk and working his way up until only the yellow flower was sticking out of his mouth.  He also liked putting his head down to get his ears rubbed, but only when he was in the right mood!

Ben went through a strange phase of making a clucking noise like a hen, and for that reason 'Ben Hen' became one of his many nicknames.  He also had a song composed in his honour, which ran thus:

Ben Wabbut, Ben Wabbut
Very cute and very very small.

(Although the last line wasn't strictly true as he was actually rather enormous).

We will miss you Ben, and we certainly won't forget you.  Binky free.
