My Story

Caesar came to me from a litter of feral kittens in a yard across the street from my house.  We literally had to chase these kittens with brooms and scoop them up with oven mitts on because they were hissing, clawing, biting little furballs of about 5 weeks of age.  I picked him out because he was so beautiful with his dark grey fur. 
I spent the next three weeks with him in my shirt hissing.  I would just walk around rubbing him and petting him.....while he hissed at me.  I fell in love with him right away and new he would grow into a very regal cat.
He did!  He grew to be almost 30lbs of long grey fur.  He walked proudly.  Meowed when he meant it.  And purred only when necessary.
He learned how to open the refridgerator,  the cabinets and the freezer to reveal any goodies he wanted.  Especially Hostess powdered donuts, flower tortillas, frozen chicken nuggets, sour cream, candy corn...pretty much anything sweet and delicious.
He slept on my pillow with his paw in my hair, or upside down underneath the couch with his hind legs sticking out.  He loved to race around and play "hide and seek" with the kids.  Or "cat bowling" on the hardwood floor with the unsuspecting , slightly dumber brother Othello.
Caesar was royal from the tips of his ears to the end of his tail.  With his giant paws and long fangs that would stick out when he slept.
He was taken much too soon from us in a tragic accident.  He was an indoor kitty and somehow got outside onto a busy street.  I found him after he was hit and held him until he passed.
Five years was not long enough with you my Caesar.  But they were a wonderful five years. 
An hour before his death Caesar and I shared a chicken taco in my bed.
That is pretty wonderful.
